June 24th, 2022 Letter #12

Dear Friends,

As the war in Ukraine continues, experts are now saying the fighting could last for years. ShareUkraine continues to support people on the ground there—however, we are now shifting our support from sending donated funds to purchasing and shipping badly needed items.

Why are we changing our approach? As the needs of the volunteers on the ground grow, it’s becoming almost impossible for people in Ukraine to find the items they need to buy.

Our next major project is to raise $30,000 for two 4x4 pickup trucks and ship them to Kharkiv. - Please donate today!

Vehicles and repair parts are scarce in Ukraine. Gas and diesel have tripled in price. Cellphones and computers are hard to get to. Although basic medicines are readily available, specialty drugs and chemotherapeutic medicines are virtually gone in Eastern Ukraine.

While NATO countries continue to provide weapons to Ukraine, the people there need all kinds of other help that we can provide. Many Ukrainians are finding shelter in central and western Ukraine. We recently connected a family from Mariupol, whose entire neighborhood is gone, with a volunteer sponsoring family.

The all-volunteer humanitarian organization Just People (JP) that we have supported for several months has expanded its services. It now helps people fix their dwellings, and repair civilian and paramilitary vehicles. In addition, JP volunteers give front-line soldiers places of rest with food and other resources.
